Regina Richter

The mezzo-soprano completed her training at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich under Daphne Evangelatos. Early performances brought her to roles such as Ruggiero in Handel's ‘Alcina’, Dorabella in ‘Così fan tutte’, the Flowermaiden in ‘Parsifal’ under James Levine and Sesto in Handel's ‘Julius Caesar in Egypt’ under René Jacobs.
She has been a member of the Cologne Opera ensemble since 2002. She is well known to Cologne opera audiences for roles including Octavian (Der Rosenkavalier), Fragoletto (Offenbach's Die Banditen), the title role in La Cenerentola, Rosina (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Prince Orlofsky (Die Fledermaus) and Hänsel (Hänsel und Gretel). As part of the Cologne Opera's tour of China in 2010, she appeared as Wellgunde (Das Rheingold, Götterdämmerung) and as Waltraute (Die Walküre) at the Shanghai Grand Theatre.
In past seasons, she could be heard at the Cologne Opera in roles including Jenny in Kurt Weill's »Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny«, Adalgisa in »Norma«, the Composer in »Ariadne auf Naxos«, Cherubino in »Le nozze di Figaro«, Sesto in »La clemenza di Tito«, Ruggiero in Alcina, Giovanna Seymour in Anna Bolena, Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni, Siebel in Gounod's Faust, Lucienne in Die tote Stadt, Behemoth in Master and Margarita, Second Elf in Rusalka and Second Lady in The Magic Flute.
Regina Richter has made guest appearances with numerous orchestras, including the Munich Symphony Orchestra, the Al Ayre Espagnol Orchestra and the WDR Radio Symphony Orchestra.
Since the 2022.23 season, she has been appearing in Cologne as Nireno in ‘Giulio Cesare in Egitto’, Second Lady in ‘The Magic Flute’, Alisa in ‘Lucia di Lammermoor’, Gianetta in ‘L'elisir d'amore«, Margaret Hennessy in »The Strangers«, Marthe Schwerdtlein in »Faust«, Frau Gast in the children's opera »Pünktchen und Anton«, Second Maid in »Elektra« and Mercédès in »Carmen«.
