Maike Raschke
Vita
The Berlin-born soprano studied in Hanover and in her hometown. As a member of the International Opera Studio at Cologne Opera (2009 to 2011), she made her debut at Cologne Opera in roles including Stella in Offenbach’s „The Tales of Hoffmann“, Tebaldo in „Don Carlo“, Amore/Valletto in „L’incoronazione di Poppea“, Servilia in „La clemenza di Tito“ and Papagena in „Die Zauberflöte“. In the 2010-11 season, she also appeared in the highly acclaimed stage premiere of Stockhausen’s „Sonntag“ from the opera cycle „Licht“. In the world premiere of Ingfried Hoffmann’s „Vom Fischer und seiner Frau“, she played the fisherman’s wife.
Guest engagements have taken her to the Aalto-Musiktheater Essen, Theater Hagen, Theater Dortmund, Komische Oper Berlin, Ruhrtriennale, Wiener Festwochen and Potsdamer Winteroper, among others.
At the Cologne Opera, she sang Ida in „Die Fledermaus“, Klärchen in „Im weißen Rössl“, Papagena and the First Lady in „Die Zauberflöte für Kinder“, the Second Nanny in Kurt Weill’s „Street Scene“ and Olga in Jacques Offenbach’s „La Grande-Duchesse de Gérolstein“, as well as the Second Elf in „Rusalka“, Ascagne in „Les Troyens“, the Sandman/Dew Fairy in „Hänsel und Gretel“ and the Confidante in „Elektra“.
She is also a member of the Cologne Children’s Opera ensemble, where she has appeared in various roles: in Wulff-Woesten’s „Die Geschichte vom Fuchs, der den Verstand verlor“, as Fräulein Andacht in „Pünktchen und Anton“, in „Marla, die Maifliege“, as Wellgunde / Zweiter Nibelung in „Das Rheingold für Jung und Alt“, as Zweite Norn / Wellgunde in „Götterdämmerung für Jung und Alt“ and as Papagena in „Die Zauberflöte“. Other roles in children’s opera include Bradamante in Marius Felix Lange’s „Der Gesang der Zauberinsel“, the nasty little girl in Connor Mitchell’s „The Musician“, the lucky child in „Der Teufel mit den drei goldenen Haaren“, Hanna in „Die Bremer Stadtmusikanten“, Mercutio in Blacher’s „Romeo und Julia“ and Bertil in „Nils Karlsson Däumling“.
In the 2025-26 season, she will appear as Papagena in „Die Zauberflöte“, in „Alles, was fliegt“, as Kristel Krakel in „Der Wunschpunsch“, as Sandmännchen/Taumännchen in „Hänsel und Gretel“, as Frau Gagackel in „Max und Moritz“ and as Ännchen in „Freikugeln – Der Freischütz in fünf Dimensionen“.
