Tina Drole

Slovenian mezzo-soprano Tina Drole has been a member of the Opera Studio at Cologne Opera since the 2023/24 season. She recently made her debut as Ursuline at the Bavarian State Opera in the new production of The Devils of Loudun (Krzysztof Penderecki) under the baton of Vladimir Yurowksi and as Mercédès in Carmen (G. Bizet) at the Open Air Festival Oper Burg Gars. During her studies, she gained experience as Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro), Annio and Sesto (La clemenza di Tito), Third Lady (The Magic Flute), the Witch (The Drummer) and Tolomeo (Giulio Cesare). In addition to opera, song and concert singing is one of her great passions. She has performed extensively as a concert and recital soloist, including at the Höri Musiktage on Lake Constance, with the Münster Symphony Orchestra and the Cantabile Orchestra. She has won many national and international competitions. In August 2021, she was a finalist in the Brahms Competition and received the special prize for the most convincing performance of the contemporary compulsory piece. In November 2019, she won third prize at the 5th International Music Competition Triomphe de l'Art in Belgium.
She studied song interpretation with Prof. Christian Gerhaher and Prof. Gerold Huber at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich. She received her vocal training at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (BA) and at the Royal Conservatory Brussels (MA). Masterclasses with Brigitte Fassbaender, Margreet Honig, Edith Wiens and Helmut Deutsch, among others, rounded off her training. She was a laureate of the International Udo Reinemann Masterclasses 2019/20 and was able to work with renowned artists from the classical song scene: Christine Schäfer, Urszula Kryger, Malcolm Martineu, David Kuyken and Thomas Oliemans.
Her roles at the Cologne Opera include the Nurse in Blacher's ‘Romeo and Juliet’, Marla in the children's opera ‘Marla the Mayfly’, Helga in ‘The Bremen Town Musicians’ and the Third Maid in ‘Elektra’. Further roles in the 2024.25 season include Mercédés in ‘Carmen’, Third Lady in ‘The Magic Flute for Young and Old’, Nireno in ‘Giulio Cesare in Egitto’ and appearances in Saariaho's ‘La Passion de Simone’.
