The element of water has always inspired composers and poets. Dark lakes, raging rivers, babbling brooks, churning oceans - they are all full of movement and harbour a natural mystery in which people encounter their fantasies and emotions. Water is home to mythical creatures and mermaids, it connects and separates, it is an element of life and infinitely deep.

Dalia Schaechter, Wolfgang Schwaiger (vocals) and Theresia Renelt (piano), all members of the Cologne Opera ensemble, present excerpts from their musical programme, which combines art and folk songs, rock ballads and pop songs under the theme of water.
